TOT SLING COMPLICATIONS: MESH EXPOSURE/EXTRUSION
All slings whether synthetic (i.e. polypropylene mesh) or others can extrude through the vaginal skin. If this happens patients are not always subject to symptoms. Patients can suffer from the following: vaginal pain, pain during sex and vaginal bleeding. If the patient is not sexually active and the mesh isn’t bothering her then she does not NEED to have the mesh removed. The mesh should only be removed if the patient and the doctor believe the benefits will outweigh the risks of her surgery. SEE VIDEO BELOW:
