NEOVAGINA
Dr Miklos recently attended an MRKH and neovagina surgery conference during the Society of Gynecologist Surgery meeting in San Antonio Texas. The conference was taught by 4 experts from prestigious institutions such as the Boston University, National Institute of Health, Mayo Clinic as well as the Cleveland Clinic. During the conference, of which there were approximately 40 attendees, a statement was made by one of the experts who said: “if anyone tells you they are doing a lot of these surgeries they are not telling the truth”
This statement made Dr Miklos wonder why this comment was made and also what was considered “a lot”. Dr Miklos and Moore have been performing laparoscopic Dayvdov since 1998. They estimate they have performed more than 600-700 of the procedures since that time. In the last 4 weeks they have performed 4 neovaginas and Dr Miklos was on vacation for a 10 of those 30 days. Patients traveled from: New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia to have the laparoscopic Davydov neovagina surgery.
All 4 patients had their surgeries completed in approximately 2 hours and attained a vaginal length of 11-13 cm. Three of these patients had MRKH and one patient had her vagina shortened due to endometriosis surgery. Patients from the world over have been coming to Atlanta for 25 years to have the laparoscopic Davydov Neovagina Surgery for the vaginal agenesis and the condition known as MRKH.
